the Winding Fork Farm is a combination of meadow, stream, hill and mature trees. The property is situated on the confluence of two spring-fed tributaries that form the upper reaches of the Winding Fork stream. 

Besides the natural streams on the property, Winding Fork Farm has additional abundant water resources including several springs, a gravel aquifer under the main valley holding untold gallons of water, and a separate aquifer in the shale at the foot of the hill on the farm.

Within 10-15 minutes of the farm are two wildlife areas with thousands of acres of public land and one of the better smallmouth/saugeye rivers in the state. Wildlife including deer, turkey, rabbits, geese, ducks and upland game birds abound in the area. Located on a paved road just 1/2 mile off a state highway, this haven is only 1 hour from Columbus International Airport and 20 minutes from dining and shopping. The Winding Fork Farm boasts approximately 3/4 mile of absolutely private, natural, wade-able stream and approximately 1,000 feet of custom designed Big Springs Signature TrophyTrout Stream, personally designed and excavated into the valley aquifer by Karl Brandt. A small spring-fed bass pond with many nice large mouth, and spectacular views of the countryside from the hilltop add to the unspoiled, peaceful, pristine country environment.

After a five-year, hands-on water study by Karl Brandt, a thirty year veteran in the trout industry, the Winding Fork has well earned it's designation as a Big Springs Signature Trout Stream. Karl Brandt's outstanding experience and expertise in the development and management of trout streams has been gained through nearly three decades in trout water development and the operation of Brandt Trout Hatchery.

Brandt Trout Hatchery is one of the few disease-free, certified hatcheries in the US, due largely to Karl's proficiency in diagnosing, treating, and managing the health of various species of trout. Karl also sat on subcommittees for the State of Ohio helping to craft aquaculture laws, giving him the opportunity to use his years of experience in furthering positive aquaculture in the state.
